Sessions and Chat Rooms - ALL Chat Rooms on AIM or AOL should have the tag
CR20 included in the chat room name.
CR20
is a 24/7 Chronicle. That means that it runs whenever people are online to
play. However, it isn't a free for all Chronicle. There are several types of
sessions and rooms. They are listed below along with the acceptable format for each.
AOL Rooms
Neutral Private Rooms: Private rooms that are not specific to a genre.
Genre Private Rooms: Private rooms that are specific to a genre or group of
Characters such as a coterie, pack, or cabal.
Internet Rooms - AIM: AOL Instant
Messenger is free for download on the net and now it supports dice rolling on
AOL. There are a lot of advantages to playing on AIM. Namely, we can support
internet users (which we want to do as there are some great players out there that refuse
to give AOL their money) and actually be in more than one chat room at a time, share files
in real time, and even talk one on one voice to voice (which is a great advantage to us
Storytellers).
Note to AIM
Users:
AIM users can play in AOL Private Rooms by providing a buddy Chat
Invite feature. Therefore, it is not necessary to be an AOL
member in order to play.
Note on Genre Chat Rooms:
Genre Chat Rooms are created by the Storytellers and a
list of them will be provided to players of the genre. Many of them require that
major NPCs be present. In cases such as those, no player should open them.
Only Storytellers are able run major NPCs. Players are able to run random people in
a setting, not the Prince of the City or the Alpha of the local Sept.
Personal Player Chat Rooms: These are Chat Rooms connected with a Player Character or
group of Player Characters that is secret, secured and private. These should be
Private Chat Rooms only. Never a Member Room and their link needs to be given to the
Storytellers. Examples of Personal Player Chat Rooms are residences, secret
hideouts, etc.
Sessions
Main Session:
The Storytellers host
two scheduled main sessions a week
on AOL or on AIM. These will be in Neutral Private Rooms or in Neutral Member
Rooms. However, on some occasions there will be events that will take place in a
Genre Chat Room that will involve players from other Genres. For example, if the
Garou discovered where a group of Kindred hung out and mounted an attack, that scene might
be a scheduled for main session in that Genre Room.
Genre Session:
Once a week a Storyteller will host a Genre session. Most Genres
have a set weekly meeting time, others meet as needed with the session
time being set by the Storyteller and players of that genre.
Here are the set genre sessions:
Werewolf -
Closed
Mage - Closed
Main Session - Sunday evenings at 9 pm EST
Vampire - Thursday evenings at 9 pm EST
Mortals - As needed.
Impromptu or Open
Sessions
Open Storyteller Sessions: The Storytellers will host sessions or open up
Private Chat Rooms at random. These sessions are unscheduled and may take place in a
Neutral or Genre Chat Room. If we are STing an open session in a Private Room, we
will IM you as you appear on our Buddy Lists with a link.
Open Player Sessions:
These are sessions in Neutral Private Rooms. These should be limited to random settings that a player
can whip up quickly or in settings that have been provided and are
not Storyteller specific. For example, a coffee shop, random pub, retail shop of some
kind, streets, alleys, etc. Something that does not require the presence major NPCs
like the Prince of Chicago. These are settings that any player from any genre can
enter and players should not be excluded from them at all. If a player opens up a
Private Room, then that player needs to link other players that wish to play, regardless
of genre. These sessions need to be
logged if a Storyteller was not present. Opening a chat room up means that you are responsible for the
setting and those in it. You need to layout a scene and get the necessary NPCs
going. You are the Storyteller for that setting and you are required to run it and
help your fellow players in it. How you handle the not giving out of info is up to
you. We would recommend handling difficulties that require Character ratings to be
divulged to be given on an "honor" system since we look over the logs anyway.
As far as announcing the Traits used, trust the people around you to use their
Traits truthfully. When we get the logs and if we see something funny, rest assured
we will act on it. Most of you will not be playing big opens scenes (big meaning all
the players in the game present at one time). So we don't anticipate combat or
complications, but the second biggest guideline to Storytelling is "whatever you
anticipate the players will do, figure that you will be dead wrong and they will do the
exact opposite." With that in mind, if combat is going to take place
or the possibility for Character Death is very likely, please email the Storytellers and
schedule a time where we can ST it when possible or hope to God we are online and scream
for help. However, if you are just making a deal or doing some political
maneuvering, we expect that we won't be needed, but if we are online, get one of us so you
don't have to log if nothing else. If you need to leave, pass the torch off to
someone else if a Storyteller isn't available to take it off your hands or close the
room.
Downtime and
Sneaky Scheming Sessions
Closed Player Sessions: There will be times where Characters have reason to sneak
off by themselves. These are closed private sessions that take place in a setting
that is secured, secret, and private and others have little hope of being there IC unless
their Character knows of the location and knows of the meeting or has tailed the parties
in question. Examples include meetings in far off abandoned warehouses for the
facilitation of a shady deal, meetings in a Character's personal location such as a
residence or haven, meetings of a coterie, cabal, or pack in a secured and secret
location, etc. These sessions always take place in a Private Room that is
"owned" by a Character or group of Characters where
a Storyteller isn't required as major NPCs would not be present.
These sessions need to be logged if a
Storyteller was not available.
No, we don't want to see your cyber logs. If a closed session was a
cyber session IC, we don't need to see it...all we need is a summary of what happened and
if there was any duplicity involved. For example, if the cyber included a Ghouling,
Blood Bonding, or Embrace of another Player Character. All Player Characters
involved need to agree on what occurred in that summary and you should keep logs anyway in
case there ends up being a dispute as to what happened down the road.
Closed Storyteller Sessions: These sessions are in Genre Private Rooms or in a
Storyteller Room and are held when a genre, a group of Characters, or an individual
Character requires a scene be run away from main session. Typically this is for
facilitating shady behind the scenes schemes, Character downtime activity, or genre
specific events. For instance, if a Sept or pack of Garou all get together at a
secured location to engage in a Rite or a Character wishes to make a shady deal with the
Nosferatu deep in the sewers and tunnels of Chicago.
Other
Play By Message Board or Email
Sessions (PbMB, PbEM): Sessions may occur in
the Message Boards for players who have conflicting schedules or prefer to write.
The Message Board has restricted access for players and the Storytellers only. Email
sessions or In Character correspondence between characters should be CCed to the
Storytellers so that any effects may be incorporated into the Chronicle. For more
information regarding the Message Forum and its format, please see the
Chronicle Format Page or the button on the left of your
screen labeled Message
Forum. |
